Fans have described Ben’s style as a mix between diverse vocals and `ukulele virtuosity. He plays as many genres as he can to expand his musical prowess, and he doesn’t hesitate to mix in a few stories between songs.Born and raised on the island of Kaua`i, Ben studied the piano, trumpet, and baritone before taking up his four-stringed love. He moved to the Oregon in 1999 to study at Southern Oregon University, where he began to take the stage regularly with a band, “Melemana.” With Ben on lead vocals and lead `ukulele, the five-person group became a regular headliner in the local bar scene and recorded two self-produced albums before separating in 2004.Since college, Ben has been invited to play and speak all around the world. In 2013, he made San Francisco, California his new home, but he will always remain connected to his home in the islands.
AND NOW he comes to Pono. As always, no cover – tho a $10 donation is strongly suggested to help the musician with traveling and recording expenses.
