Ho`omana Is Back

Honestly I don’t know how they do it! They have AT LEAST 3 different gigs per month on a regular basis (that I know of) and many more “one time” shows (until they are called the “next time”). Added to that, at this time of the year, practice with 3 or 4 or more, hula halau – coordinating new songs with old dances, old songs with new dances, and incorporating the newer dancers participating for the first time.hoomana-blue-shirts-smiling

Little did we know back when we met (near the beginning of this century) that such a close relationship would emerge and grow between this Monterey band and Santa Cruz. Now we thank our “lucky stars” that this friendship has grown, strengthened, and flourished over the years like it has.

So, as I started out saying, these Energizer Bunny musicians somehow find time to play at Pono every month. All this is a lead-up to encourage those of you who have not yet experienced a Ho`omana Show to come on out to Pono on February 17th and be prepared to become a fan. Bring your friends, and anybody who might appreciate great Hawaiian music and wonderful hula dancing by our local hula schools and guest dancers.  Robert especially, becomes sad if there are not at least half a dozen dancers present to share their art.  Although they played at Pono just a month ago on Jan 13th, somehow it seems like longer.  Join us and bring friends to become a part of the Ho`omana `Ohana.  They will love you for that.

As always, at Pono, we don’t charge a cover but we hope that you will make a donation of any amount, at the door, in order to keep the musicians coming back.
